SO, everyone knows Baine, your sister that gets cursed in Dragon Blazers 2. Her death scene is probably one of the most iconic in RPG HISTORY. (And one of the most heart-breaking :,))
Recently though, I thought about how odd it is that the main character owns an entire palace and it functions basically just as a death-trap for him. WHY is his sister still here? Did he just grow up here and leave to go on his adventures, leaving his poor sister behind?! Well then how did she become cursed?
This might sound crazy, but here's what I think.
The TheoryI think the main character, or as I'll be referring to him from now on for convenience sake, Mauricio (the default name the game gives him which I've always taken as canon because, IN WHAT WORLD is that the first 'default name' you come up with..ANYWAYS..) owns the palace for the sheer reason of keeping his sister there.
I know it can be hard to view a character that you LITERALLY take control of as doing some things that might be bad, but it's not like you MADE him do that... And there's actual evidence backing up him doing this in game too.
Baine acts... weirdly clingy to Mauricio, right? I mean, you can see her acting mostly out of it when you find her in her room, but she immediately becomes peppy and subservient to you when you see her. And I mean... no one likes their little brother THAT much. Even if he's been out saving the world. XP
It's almost as if she has a reason to immediately default to playing dumb when she sees Mauricio. Have you noticed how the door to her tower is locked, too...? And her outfit... doesn't exactly look like something a princess of high status would wear, right?
Yes, I might be implying what you think I'm implying...MAURICIO CURSED BAINE AND KEPT HER IN HER TOWER FOREVER SO SHE COULD NEVER LEAVE AND SO HE'D NEVER LOSE THE LOCATION OF THE ICE BLADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Orrrr maybe the devs just wrote her weird because the game was poorly translated. XD
